Welcome to Mark Watkinsons Home Page

Mark Watkinson was born in September 1981 in Hampshire, he began riding at a very early age. He first started competing in affiliated show jumping on a young horse called Polaris. However, Mark found training his horse on the flat far more rewarding and decided to pursue a career in producing dressage horses.

Today he is recognised by International dressage trainers as being an exceptionally talented rider and has been likened to a "young Carl Hester". Mark has had consistent access to top class dressage coaching which has enabled him to produce many quality dressage horses to advanced level, both at home and abroad, including for leading names in the International dressage field. Mark has trained and ridden for Jane Gregory (2x British Olympian), Norbert Van Laark (German gold team medalist) and Paul Schockemohle (German Gold medalist).

Marks most successful horse was Weserstar who was a German State Premium Stallion. Mark first came across the stallion whilst riding for Blake's Stud (owned by Rowan Lewis). Weserstar had a reputation for being temperamental and often explosive but at the same time he was exceptionally talented. Through correct, classical and sympathetic riding and handling Mark and Weserstar formed a strong partnership which lead to many successes at top level.
